Picky eating

Food variety

Helping children feel more comfortable exploring new foods, textures, and tastes over time.

Mealtime stress

Reducing pressure, overwhelm, and anxiety around meals for both children and families.

Textures and sensory needs

Help when certain textures, smells, or appearances make eating more difficult.

Routines and independence

Building calmer mealtimes and more confidence with eating and drinking day to day.

Does My Child Need Feeding Therapy?

Most children go through a fussy eating stage as part of normal development. For some children, feeding difficulties continue and start to affect nutrition, mealtimes, and family life. That is when feeding therapy may help.

Some children go through a fussy eating stage

  • Eat a reasonable variety of foods
  • May stop eating a food for a while, then accept it again later
  • Eat at least one food from most food groups and textures
  • Can usually tolerate new foods on the table and may touch or taste them
  • Sometimes eat differently from the rest of the family at mealtimes

Feeding support may help if your child

  • Eats a very limited range of foods
  • Avoids whole food groups or textures
  • Finds it very hard to tolerate new foods on their plate
  • Still relies heavily on formula or pureed foods later than expected
  • Gags, chokes, vomits, or becomes very distressed at meals
  • Has difficulty with drinking, chewing, or swallowing
  • Mealtimes regularly feel stressful for the family
